Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Mr. Mahinda Yapa Abeywarden, Chairman of the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka

On February 23, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Mr. Mahinda Yapa Abeywarden, Chairman of the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, in the framework the 14th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly held in Azerbaijan.

The importance of cooperation between legislative bodies within the framework of various formats was discussed. It was underlined that the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network is an important interparliamentary platform for strengthening both bilateral and multilateral ties between member parliaments.

At the meeting, ideas were exchanged on further expansion of parliamentary diplomacy within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network.
